European Patent Attorney
European Patent Litigator
Dipl. Chem.
Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Pia Schwab studied chemistry at the Technical University of Dresden (TU Dresden) and the Northumbrian University at Newcastle, Great Britain, with a focus on organic chemistry. The topic of her subsequent doctoral thesis was “Synthesis of naringenin derivatives with estrogenic activity and their enantioselective preparation”.
She then worked for several years in a Dresden-based company on the production of high-end photomasks for semiconductor production in the field of lithography and defect analysis.
Dr. Pia Schwab has been working in the field of intellectual property law since 2009. In an organic electronics start-up with a focus on organic photovoltaics, she built up an in-house patent department. In 2015, she moved to a company with a larger patent team and used her expertise to counsel R&D, innovation department and business development in all aspects of patent law. She also developed processes for the integration of IP into product development and corporate strategy.
She has been an authorized representative before the European Patent Office since 2016. In 2023, she completed the University Diploma Patent Litigation in Europe at the Centre d’études internationales de la propriété intellectuelle (CEIPI) in Strasbourg, thereby gaining the right to represent clients before the Unified Patent Court.
